Isn't Sport a fickle?

All the sports afficionados would be licking thier lips with so many sporting events simultaneously happening in the sporting arena this month like Wimbledon,Confederation Cup,England-Australia Cricket Series,India's desperate bid to break into Men's volleyball's ivy league and many more events. What more a connossieur of sport can ask for?Almost half of the world is sucked into one or the other sports mentioned above, cheering thier stars and heroes.

Its often said beauty is an illusion in sports. And rightly so when you see King Federer assasinating his opponents with his two contrasting styles, beauty and mayhem. With both these antagonistic traits the king marches on winning 36th straight grass court match and subsequently eyeing for the 3rd straight wimbledon title. Will he be able to follow the footsteps of the darling of the tennis fraternity,Pete Sampras? The time will answer that but who cares?Lets enjoy the daredevils of the smiling assasin till then.

Safeguarding the legacy of footballing giants like Pele, Zico, Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo comes one of the most accomplished footballing teams in the world,Brazil. That country seems to produce a magician before every world Cup and this time its the wonderkid, Robinho.A grand finale is on the cards with the two of greatest footballing nations and arch rivals Brazil and Argentina clashing in the finals of the confederation Cup.Not only its just about winning the final but it also will serve as a Psychological build up for the next years World Cup.

On the other side of the globe,Australia and England are fighting tooth and nail to stamp its authority on the World Cricket. But what a great leveller this sport is,infact most of the sports bear this trait, when the entire world saw ruthless aussies being humbled at the hands of the minnows Bangladesh. This brings to my mind a simple question:Isn't sport a fickle? But there lies ite austerity and beauty.

While everyone is absorbed seeing the exploits in the Grass court, the artistry of the Samba Football and the age old rivalry between England and Australia in the world cricket, our own Compatriots are trying to break into the top echleons of Men's volleyball. E.Sreedharan, the coach has worked hard with the spikers and hope it brings laurels to the billion strong nation as well.India itself is undergoing a see change in terms of public attitude towards sports. No wonder why we have been consistent in producing stars like Mirzas,Rathores,Advanis who will hopefully be able to make some impact in a cricket obsessed society.

Life of a Wanderer

I always wanted to be a doctor.Mama said-"Be a doctor and cure my back pain".Dad said-"Be a cardiologist so that i dont have to go to other doctors for check up".Thank god no Paro was there else there would have been a turmoil.Doctors still enjoy a lot of respect in the society and rightfully everyone in the family had the dream that Rajeev would one day become a doctor and cure everyone's problems. But if dreams were horses, beggers would ride.

Born in Calcutta, brought up in a beautiful hill station in Nepal, underwent my primary schooling there before ending up in an Oasis called Pilani for my high schooling.Spent the later half of my school life there enjoying the fun and frolic, being in teacher's good books and many more things.Though I always wanted to be a doctor, the software boom of 2000 vacillated my mind and finally i came to do my engineering in MSRIT,Bangalore.

Fine, engineering completed, comfortably placed in two of the Indian Software giants,Infosys and Satyam and had the luxury of choosing among them.Wasn't a great achievement by any means by getting placed in two companies. Finally chose Infosys of the two.Though technology never fascinated me and evoked the kind of interest it should have,I found that excelling in a Software Service industry is no big deal. With a little amount of sincerity and dedication the life is easier for you in the industry.

But the quest for excellence and search for a perfect habitat that i would truely love to be in didnt end there.During the end of engineering I started to realise that probably Business Administration is an area that would be fitting for me.So made of mind to do MBA which is yet to be fulfilled.

The sequence of events from my childhood to engineering had a common line. After analyzing the twists and turns of my life I found two things that are permanent in every case:Change and displacement.Though negetive in its own aspect, these commonalities brought a rich set of experience from time to time and diversity of knowledge that has been infused because of this is beyond description.

But what next???Viewing myself 5 years down the line and taking a cue from the past, the graph precisely follows the Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle.Though very decisive by character, some of the actions and matters of life are governed by external forces. Who knows???There are loads of riddles yet to be answered and many will remain unanswered till eternity. But thats how life meanders. And after all its my life, the life of a Wanderer!!!!!
